Lake Témiscamingue Fossil

Témiscamingue in the Ordovician and Silurian Periods

Through the ages, the territory we now know as Témiscamingue has frequently been submerged under sea water. The Ordovician-Silurian era, from 510 to 410 million years ago, was one such period of immersion. In the course of its evolution, the region experienced profound upheavals which defined its contemporary geology and created step faults that ensured the preservation of many fossils.
